Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Shopify Developer, based in Knutsford with some work from home flexibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, customising, and maintaining Shopify websites. Daily tasks include coding, debugging, implementing design changes, integrating third-party applications, optimising site performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution. They will also be expected to stay up-to-date with the latest Shopify trends and best practices.

Primary Duties

• Build and maintain bespoke Shopify websites from concept to deployment

• Develop mobile-first, conversion-focused interfaces using HTML, SCSS/CSS, and JavaScript

• Work with Shopify Liquid templating and APIs to create interactive, data-driven features

• Craft intuitive user experiences that drive engagement and sales performance

• Integrate external services, applications, and APIs to extend site functionality

• Transform design concepts and project briefs into polished, functional web experiences

• Ensure optimal site performance, search engine visibility, and browser compatibility

• Handle ongoing site maintenance, feature updates, and technical troubleshooting

• Maintain clean code standards using Git and participate in team development workflows

Essential Experience

• Demonstrated expertise in Shopify development (themes and custom applications)

• Advanced proficiency in Liquid templating, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and JavaScript

• In-depth knowledge of Shopify's API ecosystem and server-side development

• Sharp design instincts with expertise in layout composition, typography, and brand alignment

• Hands-on experience with Figma or equivalent design platforms

• Deep understanding of e-commerce UX/UI principles and best practices

• Proficiency with version control workflows and project coordination tools

• Strong organisational skills with ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines independently or within team settings

Bonus Qualifications

• Shopify Plus platform experience

• Conversion rate optimisation and technical SEO expertise

• Multi-platform e-commerce development background
